I still cannot believe that it is almost 2012…lots has happened over the past year and just thinking of next year-well, I better be organized!
I am a write-it-down kind of gal, and calendars can not only be great wall art, but a constant (and beautiful) reminder of what lies ahead and keeps you focused. Below are some of the things that are favorites and that I’ve been looking at for future planning.
1.Nikki McClue 2012: have been a huge fan of McClure ever since I opened the shop, these prints are actually detailed papercuts and make fantastic wall art after. MINUS: they are more for show than real practical use, the numbers are small and not for someone who needs to write on the calendar-why would you-it’s beautiful! You can buy them on-line at Buy Olympia or if you live locally we sell them at the shop.
2. Jill Bliss: this is an ultimate FAVE for both myself and my niece Nicole-in fact she is the one who told me about them and I have been carrying them ever since. This 54-week planner has no dates written, which is the best part, you can start being organized at any time-go on vacation, tune-out for a spell, it doesn’t matter you can pick up where you left off and get back to being organized. Available at Buy Olympia and our shop too. MINUS: you have to remember to keep it on you so you can remember what is going on.
3. Crispin Finn Year Planner:I am really thinking about this one for the office. This is a large page of one year…so perfect for people who have multiple projects where you need to see everything at once. Very clean looking and looks like it has room for jotting down notes. MINUS: you can’t take it with you!
4. Vignelli 2012 wall calendar:I actually had this calendar years ago, loved how big it is and it is a great take on the ole “plain office desktop calendar that you get at your basic office supply store”. Black and white goes with everything too. MINUS: every other month is black…err…kind of hard to write things down on those months. I remembered i had to use post-its on those months which kind of misses the point of this for me.
5. Brown Shades decal wall calendar: WOW this is an ingenious idea-a contender for my buy! From New Jersey, these calendars (seen in dry erase and chalkboard) are paperless and really timeless-this is it year after year. MINUS: you have to put more work into “putting up” the calendar…wouldn’t it suck if one was crooked/off? and i dont know how well they work, but it might be worth a try!
6. Flea Market Trixie: i am all about the industrial folk-sale sale and this calendar is for $10 is perfect decor for a kitchen. MINUS: yes a little not so practical-but cute!
7. Red Star Ink: this planner titled “bills” is pretty sweet for organizing all the BS that life and work gives you. I kind of like this with one of the large wall ones for a complete package. MINUS: it is $30 and again if you don’t have a huge wall one in the office, you need to carry this around with you.
let’s see what happens-are there any calendars that you recommend?
